Logan and Mommy take on Texas

To say I was excited to make this trip to Texas is an understatement.  This visit has been a LONG time coming.  I was taking our son home for the 1st time to meet his Grammy, Poppy, Nana, Uncles,  Aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends.  It was such a pleasure to introduce our little guy to my side of the family!  The only thing that could have made this trip better was to have my Dad and Granddaddy there with us and to have Kevin by my side.  Even though I was excited I was a little uneasy about flying by myself with a 5 months old.  The biggest concern I had was this ticking time bomb that I was carrying. I had no idea when he would go off or when he would be the cutest little boy full of giggles and smiles.  To make a long story short I will put it this way:  If I look at the whole flying experience, as a whole, it went great. If I look back at a few specific times we did have some rough moments.  I clearly remember stepping on the plane and asking the Lord to give me an angel of help.  Guess what the Lord did?  He sat me next to a 76 year old great-grandma that had 14 grandchildren.  She took over and held Logan as we took off. I could not have done it without her.  Coincidence?  I think not!  I will share what the Lord did for me on my way back home later.

Logan and I did not play around when we decided that the time had come to fly home.  We stayed two weeks!  In hindsight it was a little too long for daddy.  He missed us terribly, and we missed him too.  Next time he will be coming with us.  Mom and I decided to have only a few things planned while we were there visiting. We wanted to take this time together to hang out and let her enjoy Logan.  I thought that was a great idea.  I was in need of some good relaxation time.  One of the biggest reasons we flew home at this time was to be at my Nana’s 80th birthday celebration.  It is rare to get our whole family together, so I did not want to miss out on this opportunity.  I told Nana if she ever doubts that she has not made a difference in the world to just to look back at her party.  There were just a few that showed up!  It was a wonderful turn out and great time.  Nana you are so loved! Here are just a few pictures of Nana's party. As you can see they are all centered around Logan.  Gotta love a first time mommy!

Logan with Uncle Jimmy.  Logan loved his Uncle Jimmy. We
all were amazed at how long Logan would sit on his lap. Two hours
wins the longest time Logan has sat with anyone at one time!

Logan with his Grammy. Adorable picture!

Happy 80th birthday Nana! We love you!
Logan slept just about anywhere he could lay his head down.
It was a little gift to me from above!

The Waco Zoo was our next big outing. I called up my long time friend, Tiffany, to join us. It was  fun having her and her kids with us the entire day. I have found out that my blood is no longer made for the Texas heat.  It was only 86 degrees, but I could only last a couple of hours in that heat.  Even though we were only there for a short time we all had fun.  We skipped our picnic that we had planned and ate our sack lunches in the air conditioning at my mom's dining room table. I actually believe everyone was happy I couldn’t take the heat!

Tom, Mom, Wes, Kaiden, Logan and I.  One of the few family
pictures we have together.  We are missing Alicia and Ali.
Hopefully the next visit we all can get a picture together.

We had to bribe this boy to smile for the camera! My brother and I
with his little boy Kaiden. Logan decided he wanted
to be in the picture too!
Logan and I with Tiffany and her kids. They are growing up
so fast. They help make our day full of fun!
The fish caught Logan's eyes! The fish were his
favorite attraction.
My favorite spot at the zoo. Rest and shade!
Mom and Tom enjoyed the day with their
kids and grandchildren!

One of Kaiden's favorite stops of the day.

My mom had to work a few days during my stay, so I packed up Logan’s things and we spent the day with my Nana and Aunt Pam.  It was a quiet time relaxing and playing with Logan.  I feel as though all Nana did was trim Logan’s nails.  That is her specialty!  We made red hot cinnamon popcorn, fondue, and ate bluebell ice cream.  YUM!  Nana took time to show me all the research she has been doing on our  Ancestry.  We are incredibly blessed to have our Nana put so much time and money into our family’s history.  Quite amazing, actually.  There will be a separate post on that later!

Day 2...
Day 3...and yes they grew that fast!

Sherri came over to visit for a bit.

Mom and I spent a few days organizing her kitchen and office.  I think she may have felt a little guilty having me spend my vacation helping her, but I love ME some organizing time. I thrive off of the feeling of accomplishment when a task is completed! I wish I would have taken before and after pictures. Just kidding, Mom!  Grammy was not going to pass up this opportunity to get pictures made of all of her grand kids. I am very impressed by the men that managed to get these three little ones to all look at the camera while sitting and smiling. They have talent! Other then that we did some shopping, cooking, watched movies, went out on a dinner date, and enjoyed each other while relaxing at home.

Turned out precious!
Mom jumped at everything when it came to Logan.
Even changing his diapers!
Poppy with Logan.

I didn't intentionally mean to get so many
pictures of Logan in this outfit.  But, since I did
I will explain why it is so special.  I bought this for
Kaiden when we went to Hawaii a few years ago. Now
Kaiden has passed it down to Logan.  Cool stuff!
Logan did not lack any love these two weeks!
Playing with Grammy. He is such a happy boy!

Kaiden needing to be like Logan.

Cousin Love!
Kaiden wanted to share his lunch with Aunt Cole.  Yum!
Feet must taste pretty good to this boy!
He was all about the feet while in Texas. Logan can't hold
his bottle with his hands, but he sure can with his FEET
I miss snow cones year round!
My dear friend, Darla, came for a visit, along with her girls
Camryn, Caydence and their sweet niece.

Camryn waited so long to see Logan. She loved on him
as much as she could. So cute!
Our final morning together. All packed up
and ready to head to the airport. There was one happy
daddy waiting for us to come home and one sad Grammy
having to say goodbye.

Logan misses you Nana, Grammy, and Aunt Pam.

As I stepped back on the airplane to head home I once again asked the Lord for an angel of help.  And...Once again he provided. The stewardess took heart to Logan and walked with him up and down the aisle until we took off.  Just what he needed! I was also seated next to an empty seat which means Logan had his own seat.  Now that is priceless when it comes to flying with an infant!  We made many memories during our visit to Texas during the two weeks of May 17 – May 30th 2012. Looking forward to heading back sometime soon. We love you and miss you all!
