I Am Home

...and back to my own blog posts.  Thank you, Kevin, for your moment by moment updates. You  did a wonderful job at keeping all of our family and friends updated during my surgery and recovery in the hospital.

I was able to come home from the hospital on Wednesday, late afternoon, around 3:30 p.m.  It was a rough first night being home, but I got through the night with the help of the Lord, my meds, Kevin, and my mom.   I am doing really well as I recover at home and I am showing no signs of concern.  I cannot thank you all enough for your continued prayers as my body is in the healing stages.

It has been so fun watching my mom and Logan bond these last few days. This little guy cracks us up all day.  It is so hard holding back laughs as my belly is trying to heal from surgery. The best part of my day is when my sweet baby boy walks over to me and lays his head on my lap to snuggle. It is going to be a long 6 weeks of not getting to hold and squeeze him. Can’t wait for that day to come again!

As Kevin shared in one of the last updates the surgeon was able to remove the cancer and did not find any other signs of cancer spreading.  She did send off one more sample to the pathologist and we are waiting to hear those results.  I will have a follow up appointment in a few weeks to make sure I am healing properly from my surgery. There is a small chance that the cancer could return in my vagina, lymph nodes, or rectum.  Over the next few years I will have an exam every 6 months to check for any signs of the cancer returning. If all goes well then I will have yearly checkups.  This will be an area of my life that I will have to learn to surrender to the Lord.

I wake up each day thanking the Lord for His protection and mighty healing power.  I am still trying to grasp and process this whole experience that God is allowing me to walk through with Him.  All I know is I serve a mighty God and I have some dedicated prayer warriors lifting me up in prayer.  The Lord is using this trial in my life to draw me closer to Him and I praise Him for allowing me to see His powerful hand at work. I will admit God has shown me, through this time, that I have many areas in my life that I need growth.  It excites me to think about my relationship with Christ becoming stronger and more intimate in the months and years to come.

I am at my max and running out of energy, so I better close for now.  It is time for me to kick back and watch October Baby with my hubby and mom. I will be home on the couch for a while and welcome phone calls and visits.  =)

  2. We are praising God for the outcome of your surgery. Of course, He already knew the outcome we just needed to trust and believe in Him. We love you! Tami and family.

  3. Thanking the Lord that you are this far along in your healing journey. Your words echo my thoughts and realizations after my cancer and surgeries. Yes, God will have your attention these next months. My experience expanded my understanding of who our Lord is, and what His promises mean. Blessings to all of you during this time.
